The ancient Indian system of natural medicine, Ayurveda, does have an answer. It teaches that all disease and conditions need to be addressed at the root cause and weight issues are no exception One of the primary root causes in Ayurveda is pradhapradha, blasphemy against natural intelligence. The means that we need to understand our disconnection with the nature order of the world to understand our diseases.Ayurveda is all about food, not just what fills your stomach but naturally healthy food that our body really needs.  It is of foremost importance not to consume food more than your stomach can handle and eat food even when you are not hungry.  Ayurveda’s approach to weight loss is reducing fat by providing you some recommendation for all aspects of your being. So here are some secrets to weight loss the ayurvedic way:
  1. People today are told that it is healthy to eat 5-6 small meals a day. The opposite is true in ayurveda. One principal to losing weight is to eat 3 meals a day.
  2. Overeating, especially processed foods and stale, old frozen foods creates ama in your body. For some of you who do not know yet, ama is the remains of somewhat undigested food.  It should not be accumulated in the body or else it will turn into toxic and you can gain weight.
  3. A healthy ayurveda diet.  Remember that ayurveda is not just a diet plan that fits all but a strategy that is made specially for your unique needs.  There are different ways to approach this namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha - this is how your own body type will reveal your special diet needs.  You can schedule a session with me by visiting my website at https://www.okanaganayurveda.com/
  4. Massage therapy.  Believe me, an ayurvedic massage can be a stress-free way of burning those fats.  I have a specialized treatment called Udwartana. This treatment is used to decrease the adipose fat and cellulite on your body. Along with a lifestyle plan and some specific herbs.
  5. A good night sleep.  It is a given fact that unhealthy sleeping habit can contribute to weight gain.  When a person sleeps well, he wakes up with a healthy body and a healthy mindset.  Health sleep means turning your computer, phone and tv off ½ to 1 hour before bed.
  6. Active lifestyle.  Ayurvedas approach to exercise is very different that the west. We believe that you should work to 50% of you maximum ability when exercising. I have clients that decreased there exercise and lost weight.

Nowadays, many people are obese because they don’t live a balanced life anymore.  The rise of technology has eaten up our desire to move in a way that we were built.  We spends much of our time sitting and playing with our gadgets, watch so much TV, etc. start to engage less with these gadgets and go out in nature.

Come back to who you were meant to be..with Okanagan Ayurveda.
